My name if Gloria Enzoe, I am of Lutsel K’e Dene ancestry and live in my home town of Lutsel K’e. I write you today, cause I think of the time our community stood against uranium, and how you stand against uranium. I stand with you and understand the importance of fighting for the way of life, this is the second time today I wrote “the way of life” this is so ingrain in our hearts and what flows through us like rivers of water that guide our energy. I write to remind you that you are powerful beings, courageous and strong. I your sister of the north pray for you and the future of your people. I see your young leaders standing with you, I see your elders transferring love and respect. I believe that this brings strength from our ancestors and they see our honor, our praise…I believe in your cause, I believe in the James Bay Cree, I believe in the stand again st uranium is for the people of James Bay, so they can live, so the way of life can continue….all webs of life. Walk with us, for a uranium-free Eeyou Istchee‼!

The Cree Nation Youth Council is organizing a StandAgainstUranium solidarity march, to send a strong message to the Quebec government, that the Cree Nation opposes uranium development on our land. This march will also provide an opportunity for Quebeckers from across the province to show their support for the Cree Nation’s stand.
Eeyouch walkers will be walking in the footsteps of their ancestors, travelling over 850 kilometres to hand-deliver a message to the BAPE’s Commission on the uranium industry in Quebec: NO to the uranium industry in Eeyou Istchee and in Quebec.

On Saturday, November 23, the walkers will be given a warm send-off dinner in Mistissini. The next day, on Sunday, November 23, the walkers will begin their walk, travelling from Mistissini to Montreal via Chibougamau, Roberval, the Laurentides Park and Quebec City. Along the way, the walkers will participate in events to publicize the opposition of the Cree Nation to uranium activities in Eeyou Istchee. The walkers will arrive in Montreal on Monday, December 15, for the last day of the BAPE’s public hearings on the uranium industry in Quebec.

Saskatchewan has Canada’s oldest Uranium mines, and until they are cleaned up, we should not take any promises from the industry at all seriously. A corporation is an amoral immortal, constructed to put profit first and have no moral scruples at all.
